Applied Learning Programme (ALP)
ALP serves to connect academic knowledge and hands-on training for our
students. The ALP of the school strives to help our students connect their
academic knowledge in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) as well as
developing skills that allows them to be learners for the future.
Students will be trained using the Design Thinking Process (DTP), allowing them to gain critical
thinking and problem solving skills as they solve real life problems. The DTP methodology allows students to understand the human needs involved in helping them to re-frame the problem in human-centric ways before brainstorming creative ideas and finally adopting a hands-on approach in prototyping and testing. Understanding these stages of the DTP will empower students to become 21st century learners and problem solvers.
The school also makes use of LEGO® educational solutions to expose students to creative problem-solving skills in the area of STEM. Students will stretch their creativity in creation when they build LEGO® robotic sets to complete specific tasks which not only aim at exciting them but also transform abstract STEM concepts into tangible teaching and learning experiences using the hands-on approach of LEGO®.
