DIRECT SCHOOL ADMISSION (DSA)
Information on 2020 Direct School Admission to Teck Whye Secondary School (For admission to Sec One in 2021)
The DSA-Sec Exercise was introduced by the Ministry of Education in 2004. It seeks to promote holistic education and provide students an opportunity to demonstrate a more diverse range of achievements and talents in seeking admission to a secondary school.
When choosing a secondary school, parents are encouraged to consider the students’ aptitudes and strengths, the school’s academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the students’ talents.
We would like to invite students with an interest or aptitude in the talent area stated below and seeking admission to our school, to apply through this exercise.
DSA Talent Area
Sports & Games – Hockey (Girls)
The school’s dynamic Hockey training and development programme aims to develop character, nurture leadership qualities and help students achieve their sporting potential. Students’ growth in this talent area is supported by and built upon the school’s Learning for Life Programme – Sports & Sportsmanship which provides varied sporting experiences for all students.
Over the years, even students with little exposure to the sport at the primary school level have developed a passion for the sport and have grown to be confident young sportspersons. Several of them have even gone on to represent Singapore.
The following criteria will be used to select students for admission to the school via DSA-Sec.
- Personal Conduct – School Attendance & Conduct Grade
- CCA Involvement – Participation, Representation & Achievements
- Physical Fitness – NAPFA Test Results
- Sports Aptitude – Performance Task Assessment During Talent Audition
Application for DSA-Sec can be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 12 May 2020 to 5 Jun 2020. For more details, please refer to the MOE website – www.moe.gov.sg/dsa-sec
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an e-Interview and e-Audition between 10 July 2020 and 16 August 2020.
Applicants will be notified by post or email latest by 27 Aug 2020 (Fri) on the outcome of their application.
