2nd Biennial Service Learning Symposium for Schools 2018
St. Hilda’s Secondary School organised the second Biennial Service Learning Symposium for Schools on 2 March 2018, Friday, 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm at St. Hilda’s Secondary School. A total of 8 students, 1 Alumni and 1 Allied Educator from our School participated in the Service Learning Symposium.
The objectives of the Symposium are as follows:
1) To create an opportunity to engage the Head and Heart of our students in serving the community using Service Learning through the Graham White Lecture on Citizenship and visiting of booths set up by VWOs where students may sign up with them for their Service Learning;
2) To provide sharing of ideas amongst teachers so as to achieve the larger goal of effective educating and mobilising our students to be useful Citizens. Concurrent sessions would be carried out after the lecture for teachers to learn from other schools.
This year the Keynote Speaker is GLENN LIM, who is a behavioural psychologist, organisational consultant, and professional speaker. He has served in various charities in Singapore over 18 years. He also founded the social enterprise Architects Of Life, to help build fringe youths and ex-offenders to excel in society. This drive stemmed from having to overcome his own personal setbacks in his youth. Glenn’s passion is to see broken families and shattered lives restored.
